From Salamanca Spain, we headed eastward to Fatima and then Lisbon Portugal. Fatima is the famous religious site known for the apparitions to three shepherd childres on the thirteenth day of six consecutive months in 1917. There are two large churches, the Church of the Holy Trinity, and the old church which is called the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Fatima.
The beautiful city of Lisbon is built upon seven hills, just as Rome was. The Tagus River and, of course, the Atlantic Ocean play prominent parts in defining the essence of the city.
